RETURNING SUBSTITUTES

If you were on the substitute teacher list for the 09/10 school year, you are required to have a current sub sign up form  for the 10/11 school year on file.  Two formats of the form are provided below. Return completed form to my attention. 

Lee/Ogle Returning Substitute Sign up form - print and mail or scan and e-mail OR Lee/Ogle Returning Substitute Sign Up (Word Format)-  complete, save and return via e-mail as an attachment.

You can confirm your substitute status in your ECS account in the Current Credentials Window. You will not receive an automatic confirmation that your status has been updated.

 

FIRST TIME SUBSTITUTE REQUIREMENTS

A substitute teacher must possess a valid Illinois teaching or substitute teaching certificate registered with Lee/Ogle R.O.E.   In order to obtain a  substitute teaching certificate, applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning, submit the required application and fees, and meet all other statutory requirements. Applicants who are interested in obtaining a substitute teaching certificate should complete requirements A,B, D & E and make an appointment with their Regional Office of Education.  Applicants with a current valid Illinois teaching certificate should complete requirements C, D& E and make an appointment with their Regional Office of Education.

  1. ISBE Application Form 73-03C (Application for Teaching Certificate);
  2. $30 application fee and $20 registration fee (Once issued, the substitute certificate requires a $20 registration fee per region. As such, the total fee amount requested by your Regional Office of Education at the time of application may be $50.)
  3. Certificate registration with Lee/Ogle R.O.E. (complete form or through ECS).
  4. Official transcripts with a bachelor’s degree posted. To be official, transcripts must be submitted in the sealed envelope from the college or university or be sent directly by the institution Transcripts received that are not in a sealed envelope from the university or sent directly from the university will be considered unofficial and cannot be used for evaluation purposes.   5. Statutory Requirements:
    1. Physical Exam- within past 90 days
    2. TB Test Results-  within the past 90 days
    3. I-9 Employment Eligibility Form and supporting identification documentation
    4. DCFS Mandated Reporter Form
    5. Lee/Ogle Substitute Sign Up Form pdf format - print and mail or scan and e-mail OR Lee/Ogle Substitute Sign Up Form - Word Format - complete, save and return via e-mail as an attachment.
    6. Criminal Background Check - Fingerprinting is completed at the R.O.E.when all other requirements have been satisfied.  Fingerprinting is  by appointment only.

Individuals with a substitute teaching certificates can sub up to 90 days per district.  Individuals with a initial, standard or master teaching certificate may sub up to 120 days per district.
